The Led strip is versatile in its uses. You can create great atmospheres and efficient workspaces that adapt to your lighting needs and preferences. In this article, we highlight the applications of LED strip lighting and practical implementations of LED strip lighting.
Led-ribbon at home
There are numerous areas of home lighting where LED strip is an excellent choice. The strip and aluminium profile can be tailored to fit any location, allowing for individual interior designs.
In work areas such as kitchens, the quality of light is important. Cooking and washing up is more comfortable with good lighting, and even lighting on worktops with a correctly sized and positioned LED strip brings joy to the kitchen. In a utility room, it’s also smart to light the worktops with a LED strip. In bathrooms, for example, mirror backdrops are an excellent application for LED strip. If a bathroom needs both mood lighting and bright light, it can be achieved by dimming the LED strip or using a strip with adjustable light colour temperature.
Led strip is also suitable for indirect lighting in other areas of the home: staircase railings or stair treads, fixed furniture plinths, drop ceilings, as a nightlight under cupboards in the toilet, under the base of a sleeping loft in the bedroom, on the staggered frame of a double bed as mood lighting, as a wardrobe border or under the lower part of a sauna. Also the backgrounds of the curtain boards, that where previously lit by fluoroscent tubes, can be appropriately illuminated with LED strip.
Led tape on water and on the road
In boats and caravans, LED strip is useful for lighting levels and cupboards, providing cost-effective light in the right places. Professional drivers can also get functional, high-quality lighting for their rear compartments with LED strip lighting. Lighting that is created with LED strip is easy to adjust and dim, for example with a wireless, wall-mounted controller or remote control. The Led strip works well with solar power, boats and cars that use 12VDC. Please note that the LED strip is always fixed to an aluminium profile, or other metal, which will dissipate heat away from the LED and prolong the life of the LED.
An aluminium profile is required with the LED strip
The versatility of the LED strip is realised in combination with the aluminium profile to which the LED strip is attached. The LED strip will keep its life as the aluminium profile conducts heat away from the strip. The profile allows the LED strip to be embedded elegantly in a structure such as a floor or wall, reflecting the light in all directions. With the angled profile, the light from the LED strip can be directed 45° in the desired direction. The aluminium profile is often mounted on the surface of the fixture, i.e. a surface-mounted profile is used. If the LED strip is within reach, such as at the bottom of a kitchen cabinet, a touch dimmer can be used. The touch dimmer can be used to dim the LED strip, and it fits nicely inside the aluminium profile.
In long, continuous strips, where light is going, e.g. around a corner, the LED strip and profile can be cut at the appropriate points, and then reconnected after the corner. If the LED strip is to be used in a circular or curved form, care should be taken to ensure that the LED strip is attached to a material that conducts heat well. With the exception of one model, LedStore’s LED strips are flexible only in one direction, i.e. you can wind it on a coil, but you cannot bend it sideways.
