  • The light is powerful yet easy on the eyes—perfect for both plants and people.
  • Plants' light requirements vary depending on the species and stage of growth.
  • Tomatoes and chilies need intense light to ripen their fruit properly.
  • Full-spectrum lights blend well with interior design—just make sure to consider color temperature and dimmability.

The FOKUS grow light meets the most demanding plant lighting needs with its full-spectrum light. And the best part? You can enjoy perfect lighting too. Full-spectrum light is natural and easy on the eyes. Unlike traditional grow lights that only emit blue and red light, the FOKUS grow light offers 30W of power—significantly more efficient than the typical 9W models—while still being stylish enough to complement your home décor and offering versatile features.

Want to succeed in growing tomatoes, basil, or arugula? Here’s what you need from your lighting

In plant lighting you should monitor the amount of light precisely. Light intensity i, measured in lux. Lux can be converted into a PPFD value (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density), which is a more accurate measurement. For growing flowers and other plants, the recommended PPFD range is typically 200-500 µmol/m²/s, depending on the plant species and growth stage. However, it’s not just about the quantity of light—light quality, especially the correct spectrum, is crucial for healthy plant growth.

The FOKUS LED grow light from LedStore produces nearly perfect light spectrum with a color rendering index (CRI) of 97. This makes it highly effective for plants while also being very pleasant to the human eye. Use the grow light in any space without the harsh blue-red tint typically associated with grow lights. Additionally, the lights do not emit UV radiation. Seedlings and leaf growth require more blue wavelengths, while blooming and fruit ripening benefit from more reddish wavelengths.

Typical plant light requirements

Tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) need plenty of light to produce fruit efficiently, requiring around 15,000 – 25,000 lux. This means they often need strong grow lights, especially during the dark months in Finland.

Herbs like basil (Ocimum basilicum) and parsley (Petroselinum crispum) grow well in light levels of 5,000 – 15,000 lux. They often do well on a windowsill or with a lighter grow light. Unlike fruit-bearing plants, they don’t typically require as strong lighting.

Salads like arugula (Eruca vesicaria) and leafy lettuce thrive in 10,000 – 15,000 lux light. They grow quickly and can yield harvests even under lower light, but for optimal growth and freshness, bright light is recommended.

Chilies and peppers (Capsicum species) require plenty of light, just like tomatoes, typically around 20,000 – 30,000 lux. Strong light is essential for ripening their fruit and enhancing their vibrant colors.

Orchids (Orchidaceae) have varying light requirements depending on the species, but many common houseplant orchids thrive in 10,000 – 20,000 lux. Orchids are sensitive to overly intense light, so their lighting should be carefully adjusted.

The grow light and its many features ensure success

The hanging FOKUS LED grow light is a fantastic choice for all types of plants. It’s powerful enough to grow virtually any plant indoors without sunlight. Whether it’s a banana tree, fig, citrus tree, tomato, or chili, the light is strong enough to meet the needs of even more demanding plants, all while maintaining a stylish aesthetic in your home.

The light is also dimmable, allowing you to adjust the intensity based on your plant’s age and its need for rest during different growth phases.

For houseplants and houseplants like fiddle leaf fig, hibiscus, variegated ivy, and yucca, light is essential to keep them healthy. Even in spaces with minimal natural light, plants can thrive if you choose a plant suited for shady areas and pair it with a grow light. Our gardening enthusiast customer has been extremely satisfied with the FOKUS light, sharing their experience after a few months of use:
“The blooming of plants like the Christmas cactus has clearly increased under the FOKUS grow light, and the angel wing plant has also benefited greatly, producing new leaves even in the winter with the grow light as a companion. The money tree is thriving during the winter and stays healthy with the added light. The light has also boosted the activity of the lemon and olive trees. The lemons have started to turn yellow, and surprisingly, the tree is even producing new, fragrant flowers in its winter spot in the basement, all thanks to the additional light. The olive tree is also reaching towards the light. I pruned the passionflower down to a few branches last fall, and with the help of extra light, it has grown new leaves during the winter and looks like it’s going to survive. It seems like it might even start forming buds soon.”

The high color rendering index (CRI) of 97 (with R-values ranging from 1-15) ensures that the light is of excellent quality. It provides high-quality white light with the full natural spectrum of light. The red value, R9, in the FOKUS grow light is an impressive 95. Traditionally, producing high-quality red wavelengths has been challenging for LEDs, but it’s crucial for plant growth, which is why the red value should be particularly considered in grow lighting.

The CRI value is 97 The measurement takes into account 15 reference shades which reveals the true color rendering capability of the LED Values 9 15 are difficult or impossible for low quality LEDs to reproduce

With the FOKUS grow light, you can choose between five different color temperatures using the switch on the light, allowing you to adjust it to suit both your plants and your space (2700 K – 3100 K – 3700 K – 4100 K – 5800 K). As a rule of thumb, the higher the Kelvin value, the more blue light and the less red light it produces. In so called In daylight (5800 K), the blue wavelength is emphasized, with significantly less red wavelength. In warmer light, around 2700 Kelvin, the red spectrum is much more prominent than the blue. However, the light remains full-spectrum at all times. There is no UV light in grow lights.

The CRI in FOKUS grow lights is high around 95 and the light is full spectrum In the image the Kelvin value is 3700 K where the blue and red values are balanced As the color temperature becomes cooler the blue wavelength on the nm x axis is emphasized while the red wavelengths decrease accordingly

Welcome to the store to explore our lights!

We’d be happy to demonstrate the impact of color rendering in our store, where we’ve renovated several spaces with different types of lighting, including the FOKUS grow lights. Our location is in Koivuha, Vantaa, at Mesikukantie 16. Current opening hours can be found on our website.
