Kiinteistötakuu found new premises in Meilahti, Helsinki. The renovation project involved converting the commercial premises from its previous use to meet the needs of Kiinteistötakuu. Naturally, the renovation included replacing the office lighting to match the changes in both functionality and interior design of the space.
The newly renovated premises have an interesting history, as a retail shop has been operating in the same premises for decades. During the lifetime of the office, the ceiling had had many different types of lighting. In the renovation, everything was changed.
They wanted a general lighting system that would connect the two spaces in a linear way.
The same type of general lighting was needed to light the whole office. Also an efficient and simple lighting was also needed on the workstations.
FOKUS track lighting chosen for office lighting
Mika Lindroos, founder and partner of Kiinteistötakuu, chose the eye-catching 3-phase track lights for the space based on the design, for their versatility and quality of light. LedStore’s track lights have two wattage (15W and 35W) and two colour options (black and white). The color temperature can be selected from the spot. Selection is made with a switch on the side of the driver. You can choose between a warm 2,800 Kelvin, a neutral 4,100 Kelvin, or a cool 6,200 Kelvin.
After a thorough review of the options, a decision was made to purchase 12 FOKUS 35W spot lights for the space.
The angle of the light opening can be easily adjusted between 10 and 60 degrees using a ring on the perimeter. Additionally, the lights can be freely adjusted and directed where the light is needed. Each light produces 3,500 lumens of brightness. At its best, office lighting is both efficient and adaptable.
FOKUS spot lights are suitable for general lighting
The office features both open spaces and corridors. Upon entering, you directly enter an open-plan meeting and kitchen area, with a six-person workspace to the left. At the end of the workspace, there’s a group of sofas. To the right of the entrance, past the kitchen, you’ll find the coat storage and toilet corridor. Storage space is located in the center of the area. The lights were chosen to complement the overall lighting design, creating a cohesive look throughout the space. The lighting was also used to add contrast, with black luminaires on matching-colored mounting rails, setting the desired atmosphere.
Efficient office lighting with LED strip
The workspace was made more spacious by grouping the workstations tightly in the center, with a single linear light providing efficient lighting for the table tops. Despite the large windows, the task lighting offers even, glare-free lighting.
The task light was customized using LedStore’s 80 mm x 90 mm hanging profile, with a total length of 2,500 mm, and two units were installed in a row. Four parallel HELMI 14.4 W/m strips were chosen, along with dimmable driver that fits inside the profile. The adapter is compatible with a three-phase track. Though the profile comes in white, it was painted black for a matching look. The profile is giving excellent desktop lighting with a high color rendering index.
Office lighting and working with displays
When working on a screen, it’s important to have ample, even lighting in the environment, without glare from the lights on the screen. FOKUS spot lights offer a wide range of controls to direct the light effectively.
Office lighting is typically 4,000 K, a neutral color temperature. It creates a fresh, pleasant atmosphere while making work easier for the eyes. The 4,000 Kelvin temperature enhances contrast perception, which is especially useful for reading. All office lights were selected with a 4,000 Kelvin color temperature.
